Annik Cullinane, Judes Crow, Mary Flynn and Gerry Price
Since meeting through The Isle of Wight Open Studios event in 2007 the artists have been working together to develop and promote their professional practice as individual artists and as a group.
Their recent exhibition Land and Sea Stories at The Studio in Newport, confirmed the visual connections between their work. All four artists respond to their environment painting land and seascapes, people and places, and making sculptures from found objects.
They use wood, paint, metal and fabrics to create narrative, abstract and figurative pieces. They all speak of remaking and transforming, of reinventing experiences, of creating stories and of intuition and reflection.
As individual artists they have exhibited at Quay Arts in Newport, Southampton City Art Gallery, The Old Studio in Ventnor, Dartington Gallery, Surface Gallery in Nottingham and many other venues.
Later this year Judes Crow will show work at the Pelham Gallery in Cowes and Gerry Price will show at Kendall’s Gallery, Cowes. Annik Culliane and Mary Flynn will be showing work at the Botanic Gardens in Ventnor in April 2008. All four artists are participating in Isle of Wight Open Studios which takes place over two long weekends: July 18th—21st and 25th-28th July 2008.
